Clarence (Chris) Chastain 1937 – 2025 Franklin, Indiana Clarence Chastain Obituary Clarence (Chris) Chastain went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2025 and will always be loved and missed until we meet again with welcomed open arms. He met and married Ruby Nell Whitfield of Morton’s Gap, Kentucky in February of 1956 and is survived by his son, Stuart Chastain (Marie) of Indianapolis, IN and his daughter, Selina Materi (Glenn) of Upton, WY, grandchildren Michael (Sarah) Norris of Moorcroft, WY, Bryan (Sayaka) Norris of Upton, WY and Lindsay (Matthew) Schmitz of Upton, WY, and ten great-grandchildren all residing in WY. Also surviving are sisters, Carolyn Parker of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Jeanette Sexton of Liberty, South Carolina, as well as nieces and nephews. Chris was born on July 2, 1937, in Pickens, South Carolina and is preceded in death by his first wife Ruby Nell Chastain and 2nd wife Reva Porter Chastain, his parents, Clinton and Bertha Dockens Chastain, sisters, Clara Mae Belk, Ruth Tucker and Vera Owens, and brothers, Grady and James Chastain. Chris was an Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany in the 11th Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in July 1957. Chris and Ruby were devoted members of the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. Chris worked for Dr. Pepper and Whirlpool while in Evansville and was an electrical supervisor for AMAX Coal in Newburgh, IN until the family moved to Gillette, WY in December of 1982, until his retirement from the coal mines. Once settled in Sundance, WY the family attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft, WY. Once Chris moved to Indianapolis, IN he met Reva Porter, married and were devoted members of the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church in Greenwood, IN and had a heart for the children and served as a Sunday school teacher. Chris enjoyed wood carving, hunting, fishing, riding and training horses, but most of all, he really enjoyed spending time with his family. He will always be loved, missed and remembered by being of assistance in any way he could help, having a daily smile, always a greeting, handshake and a compliment for anyone that he approached especially for all friends, family members, coworkers and acquaintances during his lifetime and kept busy every day of his life.
