Hallie Powers 1933 – 2024 Born on June 6, 1933, in Weakley County, Tennessee, she lived a life marked by dedication to family, hard work, and quiet strength. Shortly after graduating high school at just 18 years old, she left her small hometown behind and moved to Washington, D.C., where she began working for the FBI as a fingerprint technician — an impressive accomplishment for a young woman of her time. While in Washington, she met the love of her life, William Sherman Powers. Together they shared more than 40 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. The couple later moved to Chicago for William’s work before eventually settling in Greenfield, Tennessee, where they raised their three children: Mark, Kathy, and Jill. In Greenfield, she became a familiar and beloved face at Greenfield School, where she faithfully worked as a bookkeeper for nearly 40 years. She remained devoted to the school and community until her youngest grandchild graduated, a milestone that reflected just how deeply intertwined her life was with generations of local families. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Courtney, daughter of Kathy and Lonnie; Tally, Bradley, and Maci, children of Mark and Rima; and Amy(Jason), Josh(Cayce), and Andrea(Todd), children of Jill and Tom. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Fox Thomas and Poppy, children of Andrea and Todd. She treasured every ballgame, school event, holiday gathering, and ordinary moment spent with them. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, unwavering devotion to her family, and the steady, loving presence she provided to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched throughout her years.
