Jacqueline Nichols 1939 – 2026 Jacqueline Ione Collum Nichols, 87, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on September 16th, 2026. She was born in Miami, FL in 1939 to Samuel Pope Collum and Nilla Kathryn Collum. Jackie attended Fort Lauderdale High School, where she was co-captain of the girls tennis team and was honored with a senior superlative of Most Athletic. She also attended the University of Florida as an undergraduate pharmacy major prior to her marriage to William Nichols in 1958. Prior to and during employment with Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a middle school registrar, she raised her children and developed her lifelong passion and talent for creating art in many forms. She embraced retirement with enthusiasm and a continued drive for her favorite art projects. She constantly explored new creative outlets, including making wine and cheese, refinishing furniture, sewing, knitting, quilting, cardmaking, and, her favorite, watercolor painting. Known as "Moo" to her daughters, "Grandmoo" to her grandchildren, and "GGmoo" to her great-grandson, some of Jackie's favorite times were traveling with family and friends. She traveled overseas with family and friends several times and traveled in the US and Canada extensively with family. She loved spending time near the water and traveling to the mountains and especially delighted in visiting places with snow. Family was very important to her and she spent countless hours researching and documenting the family ancestry, years before online tools were available. Jackie is survived by her daughter, Kathryn, son-in-law, Joseph, and son-in-law, Keith, her grandchildren Kathryn, Marielle, Sara, Samuel, and Sarah, and her great-grandson, Wilder. She is preceded in death by her children, Deborah, James, and Elizabeth. Services: service — 2026-11-14T14:30:00+00:00, Danberry at Inverness, Hoover, AL 35242
