Joann Burk Michaelis, age 71, of Carlinville, Il. and formerly of Hettick, Il. died Thursday (February 15, 2024) in Springfield, Il.

She was born December 5, 1952 in Alton, Il. daughter of the late Charles Bernard and Wanda Jean Stewart Burk.

She married Jerry Michaelis on April 19, 1980 in Carlinville, Il. and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Jennifer Noble (Charles) of Springfield, Il., Jeffrey Michaelis (Natosha) of Carlinville, Il.; two grandchildren, Camryn Michaelis, and Graylin Michaelis; a sister, Jeanne Haley (Richard) of Hettick, Il; brothers, Mike Burk of Hettick, Il. and Don Burk (Patty) of Palmyra, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joann was a 1971 graduate of Northwestern High School in Palmyra, Il. She was an employee of Schein Body and Equipment, and Monterey Coal Co. and recently Macoupin Co. Farm Bureau as an administrative assistant, where she retired in 2018. She was also a member of Farm Bureau. Joann was an avid traveler, who loved vacationing with her family and organizing trips for the Macoupin County “Prime Timers.”

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday (February 20, 2024) at Trinity Lutheran Church near Girard, Il. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville, Il. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Stults-Neece Chapel in Palmyra, Il.
