Justine Stephanie (Evancho) Mehalik, 86, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 20, 1939, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, Justine graduated from Braddock High School, where she met the love of her life, Joe. From an early age, she understood how precious life and family are, having experienced the loss of her father at just five years old. That perspective shaped the way she lived, placing deep importance on family and the people she loved. Justine’s life revolved around her loved ones. Guided by her Byzantine Catholic faith, her gentleness, grace, and loving nature guided the way she cared for those around her. Her devotion to family was evident throughout her life, including the care she gave to her mother, who lived with her, a reflection of the love and responsibility she carried for those closest to her.

She shared 64 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph Mehalik, a lasting union centered on love and commitment to each other. Together, they built a home filled with tradition, connection, and lasting memories.

Justine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and the heart of her family. She was present for birthdays, graduations, weddings, baptisms, and every celebration. Through her constant presence, she created a family rooted in care, connection, and devotion across generations. She especially loved hosting holidays, gathering her loved ones at the table, visiting her beloved sister-in-law in California, and enjoying time spent at lunch with her girls. In every part of her life, she carried herself with grace and warmth and was a true example of a lady in every sense of the word.

Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Mehalik; her three daughters, Lori (Robert) Pulit, Judith (Steven) Olsakovsky, and Susan (James) Gyurina; her cherished grandchildren, Tara Pulit, Joseph Pulit, Lily (Benjamin) Bamberger, Carly Olsakovsky, fiancée of Connor Gray, Louis (Olivia) Olsakovsky, Ava (Pete) Flores, Jack (Jessica) Gyurina, and Angie Gyurina; and her great-grandchildren, Lyla Justine Bamberger lovingly named in her honor, and Brice Bamberger. As well as her dear sister-in-laws, Liz Dinsmore, Maryann Evancho, and many nieces and nephews who were very close to her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Evancho; her mother, Irene Latzy; her stepfather, Michael Latzy; her brother, Donald Evancho; her mother-in-law, Mary Mehalik; her father-in-law, Joseph Mehalik; her brother-in-law, Brice Dinsmore, her niece Lisa Ann Evancho and her great niece Abbey Rose Olsakovsky.
