Larry Sharp 1944 – 2021 East End, AR My dad was my hero. He was the greatest example I have ever seen of how a father should be in many things especially in devotion to their children, and to their family. I miss dad every day. Before he passed, he told me that he didn't want a funeral because he didn’t like the thought of people walking by looking at him (that was very much my father), and instead, decided that his final wishes would be cremation with his ashes scattered here in Rose Lawn Cemetery over both his mother and father’s final resting place, along with his brother just a few rows over to the north under one of the big oaks, that way he could be with his family. Below was my father’s obituary that published April 27th, 2021. We held a very small, private family gathering here at the cemetery and carried out dad’s final wishes. Larry E. Sharp, 77, of East End, Arkansas stepped into heaven April 24, 2021. He was the best Dad, Brother, Papaw and friend anyone could ask for. He was born in Poteau, OK in 1944 to the late Arthur and Willene Sharp. He served in the AR Air National Guard from 1965 to 1974. Larry was the farthest thing from lazy. He worked for the Fort Smith Police Dept. Rheem/Rudd, Sebastian County Sheriff Dept. and finally Trane Manufacturing. His family was the light of his life and being an Army Dad and Papaw were two of his favorite things. He could always make you laugh, was a big Razorback fan, never got too far away from original Chapstick and always took care of everything for those he loved the most. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Ron Sharp. He is survived by his son, Ted and his wife Joy, grandchildren Allie and Collin, his brother Dean and his wife Gilda: nephews Travis, Matt, Jake and nieces Rhonda and Jamie. There will be a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Larry's Church; Pleasant Hill Baptist, 24310 North Sardis Road, Bauxite, AR 72011.
