Nancy Richardson 1947 – 2024 New Smyrna Beach, Florida Nancy Josefina Fernandez was born in Yaguajay, Cuba, in 1946. She grew up in that small village until her mother, father, and sister fled the country following the Cuban Revolution and settled in Miami, Florida. Nancy married Jorge Vazquez and briefly moved to California before their divorce. In the 1970s, she married Stephen Putnam, a Vietnam veteran, and welcomed her only child, Stephen Putnam Jr., in 1980. After divorcing Stephen Sr., Nancy left Miami to start a new life in central Florida, where she met Curtis Richardson from Pierson. Curtis and Nancy married in the early 1990s, and Nancy loved him deeply until his passing in 1996. Following his death, she took over Curtis's business while raising her son, who attended the University of Florida and later Nova Southeastern Law School. Nancy dedicated everything she had—love, time, and effort—into supporting her family. She enjoyed traveling and cherished moments spent with her loved ones. Throughout their lives, Nancy and her sister, Grace Matthews, were inseparable. They were each other's rocks and best friends, and they raised their children to be as close as siblings. After Nancy suffered a stroke in 2012, Grace cared for her for over ten years. Nancy found joy in spending time with family and friends, always wearing a smile until her passing. In addition to her family, Nancy had a passion for cooking, traveling, gardening, and various other interests. She was also a gifted artist in her youth. Nancy is remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her.
