Scott Gibson 1974 – 2024 Ponder, Texas Scott Turner Gibson, 49, of Ponder, TX, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and son-in-law, died suddenly on January 28, 2024, from a snowmobile accident in Colorado. Scott was born May 25, 1974, to Richard and Jan Gibson in Columbus, Texas. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1992 where he played basketball and tennis. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from Texas Woman's University. He also held a Superintendent Certificate in Education. It was at UNT where he met the love of his life, Jodie Marie Esser. They married June 26, 1999, in Wimberley, Texas. Scott taught high school history and world geography. He coached basketball as well as baseball in Denton ISD and was part of the coaching staff at Denton Ryan High School when the basketball team won the State 4-A championship in 2000. He also taught in Northwest ISD before becoming the Argyle Middle School assistant principal in 2006. He became principal in 2009, where he remained. He loved nature, camping, hiking, the beach, and visiting National Parks. He was an avid sports fan and a truly die-hard Cowboys and Mavericks fan. Scott loved movies and 80s music and was a huge Star Wars fan. He was the knower of random facts and followed current events and politics. Scott was a difference-maker and impacted thousands of lives. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle where he taught Sunday school, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Boy Scout leader, coached youth sports, and was active in the ACTS retreat community. Scott is survived by his wife Jodie; his four children Will, Andrew, Isaac, and Lilly Kate, all of Ponder; his mother Jan Gibson Provancha and step-father Ed Provancha, of Denton; his brother, Lance Gibson and wife, Sherry of Argyle; his in-laws, Bill and Joyce Esser of Wimberley; and brother-in-law, Luke Esser, and wife Christy of Austin, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and a niece. He was predeceased by his father, a daughter, Janelle Marie Gibson, and three heavenly babies, Gabriel, Morgen, and Gianna.
