Scott Ludlow 1982 – 2024 McKinney, Texas Scott grew up in Plano, Texas, and graduated from Plano East High School, Class of 2001, where he excelled in sports—especially baseball. He met his one true love, Lauren Gail Carley, in middle school, and the two were married on July 9, 2004, in Frisco, Texas. After high school, Scott joined the Army Reserves and trained as a medic, finishing at the top of his class. He went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University and Baylor College of Dentistry, later completing his pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center. Scott went on to own and operate his own pediatric dental practice—where he was not just respected, but truly loved by his patients. Scott loved golfing, going to the movies, working out, and cheering on the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. He was an avid reader and had a deep love for learning. But more than anything, Scott loved spending time with his family and friends. He had an infectious silliness, a deep warmth, and a way of making everyone around him feel seen and special. He was never too cool or too smart for anyone. Each of his six children shares beautiful and lasting memories with their dad: Jackson and Scott talked sports first thing every morning. They shared a love of competition—seeing who could lift the heaviest weights or win in arm wrestling (Jackson never won). They also shared deep conversations about what mattered most in life. Scott was so proud of the man his firstborn was becoming. Leah and Scott had a fun, spirited bond. She kept him on his toes with TikTok dances and trendy lingo. He was her biggest cheerleader, always hyping her up in everything she did. Watching Mavs games together was one of their favorite pastimes—and she loved seeing how excited he’d get. Lainey and Scott were the drama-watching, Swiftie-jamming duo. They shared car rides full of loud music and laughter. Scott loved listening to Lainey talk with endless passion about everything she cared about. “Lainey Boo” lit up his world. Gray (a.k.a. Tinks) was his snuggle buddy and dancing partner. She loved to read to him, and he spent hours with her in make-believe worlds—playing restaurant, massage parlor, or anything else her imagination dreamed up. She was, without question, Daddy’s girl. Dax (a.k.a. Dax-man) looked up to his dad in every way. He loved talking about science, riding bikes, and helping Scott with tools—whether or not Scott knew what he was building. Dax thinks his dad hung the moon. Grace, the baby of the family, was the light of Scott’s life. Her stories, her dancing, her humor—he loved every part of her. Cuddling her, holding her, listening to her talk—Scott soaked up every moment. He did that with all his girls. Scott and Lauren started dating in the 8th grade and never looked back. They always lived life to the fullest. Their common ground was their desire to help and love others, whether helping friends, furthering their careers in healthcare, or fostering and adopting their angels. They always joked that their maturity and sense of humor were stunted at the age they started dating. They never really grew up. No one could make Lauren laugh more than Scott. Scott was (and is) Lauren’s absolute best friend. They traveled to many exciting places and always had the best time together. Their favorite thing was to relax, talk, and laugh. As each other’s biggest cheerleaders, Scott made Lauren a better person, and she believes she did the same for Scott. They also loved to listen to music and dance in the kitchen. The kids used to love to watch and join in. If they ever saw Scott and Lauren hug, they would scream, “Family hug!” and join in.
