Wade Milton Jr.
1948 – 2025

On July 19, 1948, in Slick, Oklahoma, Lena Bell (Mitchell) and Wade Milton joyfully welcomed their second son, whom they named Wade Milton Jr., affectionately known as “Jay.” He was the sixth of thirteen siblings in the family and completed his education by graduating from L'Ouverture High School in 1969.

In August 1968, Wade celebrated the arrival of his first daughter, Sylvia Lurene Pollard. Just a few months later, in November of the same year, he welcomed his second daughter, Gisele Hallie Milton. The following year, in 1969, he joyfully became a father for the third time with the birth of his daughter, Bethamelia Faye Pollard.

On February 10, 1972, Wade united in marriage with Wylma A. Crenshaw. Together, they faced the heartache of six miscarriages before celebrating the birth of their beloved daughter, Wynea Latrice Milton, lovingly referred to as Lit’l Milt, in 1982.

Wade dedicated his career to hard work, initially making glass molds at Liberty Glass, and later working as a ladleman for Uponor. He had a passion for life, finding joy in old school music, playful moments with family, fishing, and collecting shells at lakes and beaches. He also enjoyed attending classic car shows and rodeos. A culinary expert, Wade was known for his delicious sweet cornbread, collard greens, ribs and brisket. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Family was central to Wade’s life. He made it a priority to attend every family gathering, whether near or far. He was a regular attendee at People’s Church in Oklahoma City until his health began to decline, cherishing Sundays and special occasions with his church community. Wade had a generous spirit and a servant's heart, always willing to lend a hand to those around him.

Wade leaves behind a rich legacy, including four daughters: Sylvia (Aurdra) Bagby from Fort Gibson, OK, Gisele Milton from Los Angeles, CA, Bethamelia Tucker from Pittsburgh, PA, and Wynea (Joe) Buford from Fairfax, VT. His family also includes 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Louis and Lloyd, and four sisters, Opal Cartledge, Verna Ricks, Delores Milton, and Mary Richmond, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers—Edward Smith, Arthur Milton, and Claudius Milton—three sisters—Berniece Crittenden, Josephine Curry, and Lestella Milton—and a granddaughter, Cheyenne.
