Let the memory of C.L. be with us forever.
Cecil Legette Marsh and Vonnie Lee Long Marsh were married for more than 60 years! They began life together creating a familial legacy that will continue to extend for generations to come. Together, they had three sons and one daughter.
From those four children, they have four granddaughters, and one grandson. They have three great-granddaughters and six great grandsons.
Vonnie (aka Nanny) was a dedicated, loving, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, sewing, decorating, and working in the garden nurturing her beautiful flowers. She retired after a number of years as a florist. Vonnie was a devoted Christian serving at Aenon Baptist Church in many roles including teaching Sunday School, teaching Vacation Bible School, and a member of the Women's Ministries. Vonnie was an identical twin and was born in Andrews, South Carolina. Her favorite flower was the Don Juan Red Rose. Her signature perfume was Tabu and you would almost always see her wearing the color red.
Legette (aka Papa) proudly served his country for 21 years (1948-1969) retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. Additionally, Legette diligently served and retired from the Leon County Sheriff's Department (1976-1992). He was a devoted Christian serving as Deacon since 1983 at Aenon Baptist Church. Legette enjoyed working in the yard (that he kept pristine), golfing, Florida State football and basketball, providing for his family, and being a steady guiding light. Legette was born in Pleasant Hill, South Carolina. His kind smile, and big hugs are greatly missed.
During Legettes USAF enlistment, the family lived in many places including Norway, Nebraska, Georgia, and South Carolina, but settled in Tallahassee, Florida in 1972. For over 60 years they devoted themselves to each other, their family, their church, their country and their community.
We all love and miss you both always.
