Let the memory of Austin be with us forever.
Austin was a tall, strong young man who loved to work hard and please others. Though he was a man of few words, he was a deep thinker who never spoke poorly of anyone and always found the good in people. He loved his sister Ashley with all his heart and thought the world of her. As a child, Austin was funny, kind, and incredibly smart—a quick learner who loved deeply and would never harm a soul. Growing up by the ocean on the Outer Banks, Austin developed a deep love for the water. It brought him peace and refreshed his mind. He spent countless hours surfing the waves, boating, and mastering the art of fishing off Nags Head Pier alongside his close friends—often staying out there through the night. After finishing high school, Austin went straight to work. He had many talents, but his true passion was landscaping. He loved transforming a yard into something beautiful. Austin also loved working on cars and seemed able to fix anything that was broken—skills he proudly learned from his wonderful father. Though Austin faced internal battles, at the age of 26 he discovered what Jesus was all about. The Lord took hold of his heart and brought him to his knees. From that moment on, he worked hard to turn his life around, striving to live with pride, honor, and purpose. Life without Austin has been extremely hard and difficult. The sadness can be overwhelming at times. But because of Heaven and our faith, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace and no longer struggling. Each morning, we hold on to the words, “One day closer to seeing Austin.”
