Tributes

A friend· May 2, 2025

If there’s one thing to know about Cheri, it’s that she had a servant’s heart. She was always the one helping behind the scenes—quietly making sure everyone was okay. That was just who she was. She also loved her Rangers and Cowboys. And she took her sports very seriously—so seriously, in fact, she recorded every game of every season just so she could watch them on her own time. But if you called her and spoiled the score or an event before she finished? Well… let’s just say you’d hear it from her, “I don’t want to know…!” As a mom, she was always there. Through Kyle’s stubborn childhood, headstrong teen years, and—even now—in his we’ll call it “strong-willed”adult life, she was steady. Always loving, always supportive, always just a phone call away. As a mother-in-law, she made me feel instantly welcomed into the family. There was no hesitation, no conditions—just warmth, kindness, and genuine acceptance. She treated me like one of her own from day one, and that’s something I’ll always hold close. As Mimi, she gave her whole heart to Elijah, Meadow, and Leighton. She read with them, played school and babies, showed up to their games, and cheered them on louder than anyone else. She was proud of them—so proud of them. And her humor… oh man. That dry, corny kind of joke that would make you groan—but then laugh anyway. That was her way of keeping things light, even when life wasn’t. We’ll miss her deeply. Her presence, her voice, her hugs, her humor. But we also carry her with us—in our memories, in the things she taught us, and in the way we love one another. We love you, Mom. We love you, Cheri, We love you Mimi. Always.
