Let the memory of Chris be with us forever.
Christopher Paul Lipetzky, born 1967 in Great Lakes, Illinois, passed away on April 13, 2025, in his St. Paul home surrounded by loved ones. Chris was preceded in death by parents Paul and Carol. Chris is survived by his spouse, Tiffany Morvari, daughter Allison (son-in-law to be Tyler Hoeft), stepsons Daren and Zach, siblings Stephanie, Shawn (Kris), and Shelly, brother-in-law Drake (Melinda) Morvari, stepmom Charlie Kapp, and many adoring nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, as well as his furry roommates Cyrus and Louis. Chris attended Edina High School and University of Minnesota Duluth. Before settling into a successful career in technology, Chris had several jobs that left a lasting impression on him and helped shape the rest of his life. He worked alongside his lifelong friend Steve at Marc’s Big Boy. While working at Chi Chi’s, he met Dana, whom he later married and with whom he had their daughter Ally. It is impossible to compress Chris’ zest for life into a few paragraphs. His love of travel, adventure, and outdoors began during his childhood in Spain. Altruistic and curious, he sought connection with everyone from neighbors to Lyft drivers. He greeted loved ones and strangers alike with a genuine crooked smile, and if he liked you, a solid hug. His passion for social justice, human rights, and sustainability guided the way he lived and persuaded many of us to follow suit. He and Tiffany spent close to a decade together. They bonded over a shared love of music, politics, travel, food, and community, and built a beautiful home that became a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbors alike. They dreamed about retirement and a life in Spain or sailing the world—big plans they believed they had all the time in the world to think about. To the delight of everyone who loves them, Chris and Tiffany married on March 22, 2025. The celebration of their love was a beautiful gift to all of us. As a father, Chris was beyond devoted, and Ally was his greatest accomplishment. He adored her and filled their lives with activities, travel, and quiet moments together. He coached her soccer and softball teams, taught her to snowboard and overcome her fear of chairlifts, and took up guitar when Ally became a music major in college. Their deep bond only grew stronger as she became an adult, remaining one of the closest relationships in each other’s lives. Chris became the family patriarch when his father passed. He was the advice giver, researcher, and adventurer who encouraged his siblings to explore the world. Chris was the partner they all wanted if The Amazing Race ever called, because he could figure out anything. Chris’ group of lifelong friends credit him for bringing them together. What began as Chris’ unsuccessful bike ride past a cute girl’s house became the beginning of friendship and a lifetime of Boy Scout camping trips, D&D, football and boot hockey games, beer runs and quarter taps, overnights in line for concert tickets, ice fishing and deer hunting, family vacations, the cabin, and sailing trips around the world. This larger-than-life, stylish, hipster lumberjack could build a deck, fix a car, entertain a baby, and shuck an oyster. He meticulously researched everything from concert tickets and travel destinations to paella pans and electronic purchases. He laughed at clever wit. He treated others with respect, kindness, and interest. Our hearts are broken, but Chris’ spirit lives each time when, like him, we do what is right when no is looking.
