Darwin "Darb" Dye

1961 – 2024

Let the memory of Darwin be with us forever.

Darwin Gene Dye was born October 20, 1961, to Cline and Ruth (Hockett) Dye in Lynch, Nebraska. Darwin and his family lived by Gross, Nebraska, and later moved into Butte, Nebraska. He attended Butte High School through 10th grade and started work at S & S Trailers in Butte as a welder. Later in life, Darb found a passion for trucking and continued this throughout his life. Darb met Deborah Harvey on a double date, and the couple later married on August 16, 1980, at Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill. The couple lived in Giddings, Texas, followed by Oakdale, Nebraska, before settling in O’Neill. To this union, five daughters were born; Misty, Nikie, Shirley, Ashley, and Kacey. The couple established D & D trucking together, which filled both their passions for trucking. Darb enjoyed spending time tinkering and working on things in his workshop. He had a love for fishing, especially cat fishing. Darb also enjoyed playing pool, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. The pride and love he had for his grandchildren was unmeasurable. Anyone who got to know Darb quickly found he had a heart of gold. Darb and Debbie had many "adopted" children and grandchildren who continued to grow their family. Darb was a member of the Word of Life Christian Center.
