Dennis Leon Volneck

Dennis Leon Volneck passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 surrounded by family in Orlando, Florida.

Son of Edith Gilliam Voleneck and Max Leon Voleneck.

Born in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Dennis was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia and Judith. He leaves behind his son, Drew Volneck of Lakeland, Florida, and his daughter, Danielle Volneck Lee of Boone, North Carolina. He was also a proud grandfather to four granddaughters: Zoe of Boone, North Carolina; Mackenzie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Emma of Boone, North Carolina; and Harper of Boone, North Carolina.

Dennis served the United States of America in the Air Force during the Vietnam war. He proudly serve 18 years for our nation.

Dennis was a hardworking man who believed that nothing worthwhile came easily. He taught his children one of life’s most important lessons: life isn’t easy, but anything worth having is worth working for. He didn’t just say those words—he lived them.

Those who knew Dennis knew that he could have a tough exterior, but underneath it was an incredibly soft heart. He was the kind of man who might give you a hard time, make a sarcastic comment, or tell you exactly what he thought—but he was also the man who would sit with you and talk you through your worst day. His sarcasm was part of his charm, and those who loved him knew there was often affection hiding just beneath it.

Dennis enjoyed the simple things that made life good. He loved football, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, and he enjoyed soaking up the warmth of the sunshine. Whether watching a game, enjoying a sunny day, or sharing one of his perfectly timed sarcastic remarks, Dennis had a way of leaving an impression.

He was strong, stubborn, hardworking, funny, and caring. He taught his children to keep going when life became difficult, to work for what they wanted, and not to expect the world to hand them anything. Those lessons, along with countless memories, will continue through his children and granddaughters.

Dennis may have had a tough exterior, but the people closest to him knew the heart underneath. His voice, his humor, his advice, and even his sarcasm will be deeply missed.

His work here is finished, but the lessons he taught, the strength he passed down, and the love he gave will live on in his family forever.

Rest peacefully, Dennis. Your family will carry you with them always.
