Let the memory of Dio be with us forever.
Dio was born on January 5, 1987, in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, the cherished son of Annabel Roa Jo and Deogenes Salvacion Jo, Jr. He grew up alongside his siblings, Reyna Jo Cagas, Natasha Jo Nacua, Roxan Roa Jo, and Shalini Jo Degoma, carrying throughout his life an unwavering devotion to family. Education took many paths for Dio. He studied biology and nursing in college, later trained in automotive technology, and ultimately pursued work that reflected his adaptability and resilience. He was an automotive shop mechanic, a hospital patient transporter, and a surgical technician assistant. When his health allowed, he took on seasonal work as a UPS support driver. In 2015, Dio married the love of his life, Rachel Jo, in a civil ceremony, followed by their Catholic church wedding in 2016. Their life together was rooted in faith, love, and mutual devotion, and they were blessed with a daughter, Rafaela Grace, who became the joy of his heart and his greatest pride. Those who knew Dio remember his big personality, warm humor, and even bigger heart. He delighted in making his daughter, nieces, and nephews laugh, often with well-timed pranks that revealed his playful spirit. He was a calm problem-solver, generous with his time, and wise in counsel, always ready to help family and friends, whether through practical support, steady advice, or simple companionship. Beyond his work and family life, Dio found joy in life’s simple and adventurous moments. He loved overlanding, off-roading, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and target shooting. A passionate car enthusiast, he spent countless hours repairing, upgrading, and maintaining vehicles for both family and friends. He was also a devoted student of history and of his Catholic faith, often immersing himself in books, films, and religious interviews to deepen his understanding of the saints, the Passion of Christ, and the mysteries of the Eucharist. Dio’s life was marked by faith, resilience, and generosity. As a young man, he served as Battalion Commander in the Philippines’ Citizens Advancement Training, where he first demonstrated his gift for leadership. Later, despite personal health challenges, he found ways to give back—helping to financially support three nieces through school in the Philippines. His life motto, lived in both word and action, was simple yet profound: Give it your best, give it all to God, and chill because God will do the rest. For Dio, learning was never confined to the classroom. He believed wisdom was found in life’s experiences, in service to others, and in the quiet surrender to God’s will. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew him. “Not my will, but Yours be done.” — Luke 22:42
