Obituary

Dorothy Winters Rosefeldt of East Coventry passed away September 9, 2021 after a difficult journey with dementia.

Dorothy was born October 2, 1943 in Newark, NJ and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. She graduated from Bloomfield High School, then Rutgers University, earning a BS in Biology in 1965. She had a promising starter career in the business world with Union Carbide, but she was compelled to follow another dream. A book she loved inspired her to become an Occupational Therapist, so she pursued a Master’s Degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.

She became an OT and worked with special needs residents at Pennhurst for 10 years, where she met her husband Paul. Dotti transferred to Haverford State Hospital, but soon settled at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit as an Itinerant OT working in schools. This was her true passion, working with children, and she also adored her colleagues.

Dotti loved travel, yoga, bird watching and gardening. Her home was her oasis for the latter two. With friends she attended the Philadelphia Flower Show annually and the Devon Horse Show for many years. She visited dozens of countries throughout her adult life, most with her husband Paul, with whom she would go anywhere, even if that meant camping in the snow in New England on their honeymoon in February 1978. Morocco, Zambia, Vietnam, Peru, Hungary, England and Ireland were among her travels, one of the most formative being in her young adulthood when she visited her brother in the army in Japan. She always enjoyed a good adventure!

Dotti loved to read and was a lifelong learner, with bookshelves full of mysteries, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, architecture and art. In her retirement she enrolled in continuing ed classes, attended lectures and took educational bus trips throughout the Northeast. Dotti had a thirst for knowledge and a passion to enjoy life.

Above all her family came first. Dorothy was a devoted wife and loving mother to her two children. She would move heaven and earth, or more practically, drive a thousand miles, for any of them. Like loading up the family van to haul a handful of soccer players to a weekend tournament, or touring colleges across the Northeast for each of her kids.

Mrs. Rosefeldt is survived by her husband of 44 years, Paul Rosefeldt; children Michael Rosefeldt (Nancy) of Lafayette Hill, PA, and Sarah Rosefeldt (Andrew Ko) of Phoenixville, PA; grandchildren Fiona, Eliza and David Rosefeldt, and (in utero) Lilian & Vivian Ko.
