Ellen Maraia

1954 – 2021

Let the memory of Ellen be with us forever.

On Thursday, October 7th, 2021 heaven gained an angel. Ellen P. Maraia departed her loving family at the young age of 67.

Ellen was born in San Antonio, Texas to Ernest and Wanda Poe on January 21st, 1954. She was a dedicated school teacher for 30+ years, where she was a role model to many. Her colleagues would say she had a heart of gold and was always willing to help and care for her students. She also pursued a 20+ year career as a relator.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and companion of 51+ years (married for 42 of those years) Dennis Maraia; two children Nicholas Maraia and Joseph Maraia (wife Samantha); three beautiful grandchildren Aubrey, Laine, and Brayden; mother Wanda Doddo and step-father Robert Doddo; brother James Poe (wife Tanya); as well as her sister-in-law Tracy Poe and many more relatives and family.

She was preceded by her father Ernest Poe and brother Kenneth Poe. Ellen devoted her life to being a wonderful wife and mother to her two sons. She also made it known that she loved her grandchildren to the moon and back. Her mother and brothers would say she was the best daughter and sister anyone could ever ask for. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, and being able to spend time together during the holidays. She was the kindest person you could ever meet; opening her heart and home to many over the years.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
