Happy Mother's Day
Let the memory of Gladys be with us forever.
Gladys liked all kinds of crafts, she also liked doing the yard work and building things from wood. Even as a child she was some what of a tom boy. During the summer months, Gladys kept her children busy with long bike rides or walks. She would take Don, Darlene & Joe to the pool and to the parks in the summer, they would walk where they wanted to go since Gladys did not have a driver's license. Gladys could have a temper if you encouraged it. She was not afraid to stand up for herself or for her children. Per daughter Shirley. Gladys could only read and write at a 6 or 7th grade level. This did not stop her from doing things with her kids. With Don, Shirley and Joe, she was a Boy Scout leader and a Blue Bird leader. Gladys always was very involved in all school functions and went to all PTA (Parent & Teacher Association) meetings. Since Gladys was a stay at home mother, she would help at many of the school parties on the holidays. After school, since Gladys was home, many of the neighborhood kids, whose parents were at work, would hang around our house.
