James Haney

1935 – 2022

Let the memory of James be with us forever.

Edwin was born Feb. 23, 1935, to S.A. Jr. and Lillie Fae (Morgan) Haney in Chico. He was united in marriage Sept. 29, 1956, to Melba Jeane Rawle in Decatur. Edwin was a 1953 graduate of Bridgeport High School and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Decatur. Edwin proudly served our country in the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1956. He was a retired tool and die maker for North Texas Plastics, having worked for many years in the plastic manufacturing industry. Edwin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S.A. Jr. and Fae Haney.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Melba Haney of Decatur; his son, Kevin Haney and wife, Julie, of Decatur; his daughter, Karen Slimp and husband, Rick, of Decatur; his grandchildren, Jeremy Slimp and wife, Taylor, of Decatur, Eric Slimp and wife, Kalah, of Fort Worth, Kayla Scoggins and husband, Chad, of Hurst, Blake Haney and wife, Blakely, of Haslet, Morgan Holzbog and husband, Kevin, of Decatur, and Harrison Haney and wife Graci of Mineral Wells; six great-grandchildren, Kaidan Slimp, Marcie Slimp, Parker Holzbog, Madelyn Slimp, Ryan Slimp, Ellen, Thomas and Kate Holzbog, Lyla Haney and Barrett Scoggins; his sister, Joyce Beard of Bridgeport; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
