James "Jimmy" Anthony Gaul Jr. Linda Sue Huebler

The Childrens Momument at Rusch Park was created to memorialize the tragic loss of children in our community; inspired by the significant loss of two young Citrus Heights children, 7 year old James “Jimmy” Anthony Gaul Jr. and 5 year old Linda Sue Huebler, whom sadly passed away within weeks of each other in the late spring of 1964. After much campaigning and generous contributions, the Monument was unveiled at the entrance of the Rusch Park Community Park playground, 13 years after their deaths, in the summer of 1977. It has stood as a place marker in their honor as well as all community children that have met with untimely tragedy.

With the creation of this QR Code loved ones of the honorees invite you to step back in time and discover how your community came together for these two grieving families during what was an unimaginably difficult time and created beauty and hope, both of which continue today.
