James Russell was born in 1949 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where his family had put down roots after his father brought his wife and children over from Ireland in 1960, settling into the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee and finding a home in the Oak Ridge community. He lived 77 years, and the life he built in that time was quiet, purposeful, and deeply his own.

James spent 30 years serving as a Compliance Engineer for OSHA before retiring, a career that reflected both his discipline and his dedication. Those who knew him understood that he valued his privacy, and he lived accordingly, on his own terms and without need for fanfare.

Yet behind that quiet life was a remarkable story. James took the time to research and publish a book on the history of his bloodline, uncovering a lineage that traces directly back to King Charlemagne of France. It was a discovery that connected generations of history to the hills of Tennessee, and a gift he left for those who carry his name forward.

James is survived by his daughters, Amanda Lynn Russell and Nicole Oaks Russell-Thomas; his granddaughters, Morgan Jade Stallings, Sierra Elizabeth Thomas, and Sadie Monroe Thomas; and his great-granddaughters, Salem Blair Anderson and Marcilyn Rey Anderson. He leaves behind a family that spans generations, rooted in a history far older than any of them fully know, and a legacy that will continue to unfold in the lives of the people he loved.
