Let the memory of Janice be with us forever.
It is with great sadness, we announce Janice Raye Myers Angst, age 73, of Phillipsburg, MO, passed away on June 26, 2025, surrounded by her family, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO following a long illness. Janice was born in Lebanon, MO, to Raymond and Dorothy (Fincher) Myers on January 10, 1952. She completed their family of five, along with sisters Linda and Donna. The family was raised in both Sleeper and Phillipsburg, MO. Janice graduated from Conway High School in 1970. Janice met the love of her life, Leslie Angst, on May 4, 1973, when she took a chance on a blind date! They married on July 26, 1973. They shared 52 wonderful years together. Janice was a devoted mother to her daughter, Diane (born in 1980), and son, Mark (born in 1991). Through her family she loved living life, always putting them first. They adored her so much, made clear by how close they chose to live--never wanting to be far from her presence. Janice's greatest title was “Nana.” Diane blessed her with three amazing grandkids. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Myers, whom she missed very much. As Janice enters Heaven’s gates to be embraced by her parents, she is survived by her husband, Leslie; her daughter, Diane Clawson, and son-in-law Vincent Clawson; her son, Mark Angst; her grandchildren, Kaylyn, Mason, and Amelia “Milly” Clawson; and many other cherished family members and dearest friends. Janice shared a special bond with many. Some of the fondest memories of Janice are from the kids in her family. Specifics include: letting them play in a pile of cattle feed; distributing popsicles and ice cream sandwiches to them (“OUTSIDE” she would say); creating fun activities like giant bubbles, play-doh, and oobleck (also “OUTSIDE”) surprising them with litters upon litters of newborn kittens, or a puppy or two, to play with – sometimes she would say “go look in that box” and you would find one; allowing them to bring home eight goldfish from the school carnival. Janice enjoyed watching soap operas, reading, watching Hallmark Christmas movies (the cheesy kind) puzzles, games, holidays, and sitting outside on her deck. Her greatest joy was getting together with family and friends to visit. Her famous cheesecake was popular with the Angst family. She always looked forward to fresh garden tomatoes every summer. She enjoyed Mexican and Chinese food. Janice lived a content life surrounded by the people and pets she loved. Her presence was steady, her humor sharp, and her heart always open to those who needed her. You could see her light up when she talked about her family and friends. Janice didn’t seek the spotlight and made you feel welcome. She had a comfort for always being there with a smile on her face. She had a unique laugh we can still hear as if she were right beside us- impossible to forget and entirely hers. Janice spent many happy hours online, exploring the world through her screen and engaging in spirited discussions about the issues she cared about. She embraced the internet age with enthusiasm and had a talent for playful, passionate thoughts that kept everyone on their toes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Knowing and loving her precious family and friends is the success story of her life. In lieu of flowers, please join the family to share happy memories and laughter in her honor. Her life was full of things that mattered most to her. She was one of a kind. Her greatest legacy are the family and friends that surrounded her and the stories we’ll keep telling.
