Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Jewel and Curtis Young. She has 2 sisters (Linda and Patsy) and 4 brothers (Bobby, Wayne, C L and Robert. Grew up living on Heckcher Dr. and North Main St., Oceanway area. Attended Jackson High School and obtained an associate degree from FCCJ in Jacksonville. Had a long career in medical offices and medical office administration and retired in 1994. She is the mother of 2 children, Jennifer M. Alexander (Eddie) and John M, Lee (Mandy), 6 grandchildren , Taylor , Jonathan , Caitlin, Edgar. Reagan . and Jackson. One Great grandchild , Ana. She was a longtime member of the Jacksonville Northside Baptist Church and later Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine, Fl. JoAnn was a very smart and creative person. She mastered almost everything she attempted. She could write, draw, paint, sew, ceramics, quilting, and self-taught stenographer for a doctor's office. Her passion was hunting sharks' teeth at the beach and she found thousands, from Spain to Hawaii. She will always be remembered for her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, her great recipes, and of course, her fried chicken. And yes, it had to be done her way. She enjoyed reading, movies, music, and crafts.
