Obituary
Susan Kim Gillespie Lowery, aged 68, passed away surrounded by her family in Memphis, TN on October 5, 2026. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend, Kim was born on September 11, 1958, in Memphis, to her devoted parents, Patricia Gillespie (nee Hutchison) and the late William Patrick Gillespie.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, her father-in-law, Brian Lowery, and her nephew, William Riley Gillespie. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Lowery; her cherished children: Lynn Lowery (and her children Alex, Andy, Emily, and Ethan), Brian Lowery (and his children Elise, Kaitlin, Skyler, Destiny, and Zoe), and Alison Stubbs (and her children Yazmin and Tre); plus her mother, known by all as Memaw. Kim is also survived by her brothers: Glenn (Lisa), Denny (Dawn), Chris (Connie), Gary (Laura), and JK (Angela) Gillespie, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she loved fiercely.
Her kindness, generosity, and warmth were her defining traits, making her a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her. If Kim had a weakness it was worrying too much because deep down she was a gentle soul that cared about everyone
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 1pm in Rossville, TN, in the home of her youngest brother. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember Kim, whose legacy of love, compassion, and kindness remains. Kim's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time.
Kim lived her life by cherishing every moment and creating countless breath-taking memories for those she loved. Her life was a testament to her strong spirit, her love for her family, and her commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed.
