Larry Smith

Larry Eugene Smith was born on July 25th, 1959, to Willie and Anna Lee Smith, in Newton, Kansas. Most of his childhood was spent in the Little Italy section of Omaha, Nebraska. He was the second of four boys: Lonnie, Larry, Bruce and Brian. Followed by the much-anticipated sister, Deanna (Throop). In his early 20's he made the long distance move to Dinuba with his parents and younger siblings. In May of 1984 he wed Dorraine Pope (div 2011) they raised two beloved children, Sierra and Forrest. Larry worked for several contractors before becoming a bobtail driver for Pope's Propane Service (37 years).

Larry was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and animals. He was an enthusiastic country dancer until the loss of his hearing. He never encountered a trail that he didn't like, even reaching the summit of Mt. Whitney. A kinder gentleman there never was!

We lost him in an instant on March 18, 2025. His passing leaves his adult children Sierra Smith (Alex Ocampo), Forrest Smith (Danielle Osmer), his siblings Lonnie (Deb), Bruce (Laurel), Brian (Alejandra), Deanna Throop (Steve), numerous nieces and nephews, former spouse Dorraine, and many, many friends and acquaintances to grieve his loss. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant niece, Nicole Smith, also by Tom and Leah Pope.

As a man of faith, we send him off to rest high on that mountain with his Lord and Savior.
