1944 – 2024

Let the memory of Linda be with us forever.

Mrs. Linda Anne Farmer Dean, age 80, of Martin, wife of George Hayden Dean, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at her home. Born January 2, 1944 in Martin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Douglas W. and Mary John Holcomb Farmer. Mrs. Dean received the following honors: 1974 Georgia Young Famers District 3 Farm Family of the Year; 2013 AM630 WNEG’s Senior Woman of the Year and 2013 Inducted North Georgia Technical College Alumni Association Hall of Fame. She was also involved with Farm Bureau: Women’s Committee Chair 2000-2018; hosted Stephens County 3rd graders at the family’s farm, Mountain View Farm, for 10 years; during the time she served as Committee Chair, 2002 State Winner Women’s Committee Award and 2012 District 2 Outstanding Women’s Committee Award. She was passionate about educating our youth about agriculture. She was very involved with Ag in the classroom program – this included art contests, cooking contests, essays and supporting the local 4-H and FFA programs. Mrs. Dean was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1961 – 1964. She graduated from North Georgia Technical College and Truett-McConnell College, and retired from the United States Postal Service with 27 years of service. She also served on the North Georgia Technical College Alumni Board and was a member of Confidence Methodist Church. Family members include her husband, George H. Dean; daughters, Hayden Dean Norman and Hayley Knight (Hank); grandchildren, Kaitlin Hazel (Sims); Kindler Norman (Craig Yetter); Ann Mariee Knight, Mary Alice Knight and Angela Thurman; great-granddaughter, Ann Davis and great-grandson, George Linden; siblings, Shelby Brady, Janice Woody, Wayne Farmer and Keith Farmer; and sisters-in-law, Tammy Brown (Wilkie) and Linda Moss Dean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Winfred Farmer and Freddie Farmer.
