Loren Christensen

Loren was born December 27, 1947, in Deadwood, SD and passed away in Spearfish, SD on October 25, 2023. He attended grade school in Buffalo and White River, SD. His sophomore year his family moved to Spearfish to take over the family ranch. While in high school he was active in choir, football, basketball, and plays. On December 28th, 1967, he married Claudia Conklin, his high school sweetheart and love of his life. They were married 56 years and blessed with two children, Jason, and Michelle. He attended BHSU and later became a manager and insurance agent for Farm Bureau Financial Services. He worked for Farm Bureau in the Sturgis office for 42 years. He was successful and won many company awards including trips all over the world. He was also a member of Life Underwriters Association where he was named to the Million Dollar Roundtable. Loren was a member of Kiwanis, American Legion, and participated for several years on the Honor Guard. He was on the board at the High Plains Heritage Center. He served on the council and sang with the choirs at Our Saviors and Immanual Lutheran Church. He enjoyed waterskiing, boating, camping, hunting, and fishing. The joy of his life was his children and grandchildren. He loved attending their activities and spending time with them. Loren will be remembered for his outgoing personality, strong work ethic, willingness to help others, wit, charm, and love for his family.
