Obituary

Mariana, age 17, passed away on July 29, 2026. She was a beautiful, dirty-blonde girl who was known by everyone around her as the sweetest kid ever. Mariana possessed a rare, fierce empathy for the earth and all its creatures, a kindness so deep that even as a young child, she would willingly let mosquitoes bite her because she gently insisted "they had to eat too."

Mariana’s greatest passion was music. She was a talented and dedicated baritone saxophone player for the band, pouring her heart and soul into every note. Her connection to her art was purest in the grasslands of Minnesota, where she loved to go out into the open fields and play for the cows, who would gather to listen to her jazz.

As she grew older, Mariana remained the same deeply caring, vibrant girl, even if she grew to hate having her picture taken. Though she fought a private, difficult battle with bipolar disorder that ultimately took her from us too soon, her dreams were always full of love and connection. She deeply cherished her friend Sam in California, and dreamed of the day they would attend the same college, share the same band section, and play music together for each other and the world.

Mariana's music, her laugh, and her endless kindness will play on in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
