Martin Russell Hudlow BIRTH DATE: MAR 20, 1940 - DEATH DATE: AUG 9, 2024 It's with very heavy hearts we announce that Marty went home peacefully with the Lord at his daughter’s home in Bluff City. He was on hospice and was surrounded by his family. Marty was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to the Late Russell T Hudlow and Fletis Dudley Hudlow of Upland, PA. Marty was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Pratt Hudlow. Brother: Russell Hudlow of Marcus Hook, Pa. Sister: Fernette Schulin and brother-in-law Bob Schulin of Arronsburg, Pa. Sister: Mary Agnes Berthe and brother-in-law Joe Berthe of North Port, Florida, and West Chester, Pennsylvania. Brother-in-Law Doug Peterson of Bluff City, TN. Survivors include his Children: Kimberly Hudlow Ziegler & husband Tim Ziegler of Bluff City, TN. Marty Hudlow & wife, Lani Hudlow of Bluff City, TN Raymond Hudlow & wife Cathy Hudlow of Bristol, TN. Grandchildren: Lance Bellamy, Logan Bellamy, Lakelyn Ziegler, Dalton Hudlow, Walker Hudlow, Issac Hudlow, Heather Smith, and Aaron Hudlow. Great-grandchildren: Haylen Hudlow, Oliver Smith, Carter Hudlow, Kinsley Bellamy, Aubrey Tipton, and Zane Hudlow. Brother: Thomas W Hudlow & Wife Meg Hudlow of Sarasota, FL. Sister-in-Law June Peterson of Milton, Del. Several Special Nieces and Nephews. Marty grew up in Marydell, Delaware, and later moved to Upland, Pa. He had several jobs as a young man. Marty is a Lifetime Member of Upland Fire Company, where he had the rank of engineer; Marty was Fireman of the Year in 1965. Marty enlisted in the Army from June 1957 to June 1960, where he was stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, until 196O. He was in the 217th Artillery Missile Battalion, where his unit was the first to fire the Redstone Missile. Marty started at Reynolds Metal in Chester, Pa., in the early 60’s. Marty married Barbara Pratt Hudlow on Nov 10, 1962. They resided in Upland, PA, from 1974, then moved to Aston, Pa., until May 1978. Marty’s company, Reynolds Metals, closed its doors in 1977, forcing Marty to leave his family and move to Tennessee for almost a year before his family could join him. They settled in Bluff City, Tennessee, and Marty retired from Ball Corporation in Bristol, Virginia. Marty owned and operated Hudlow’s TV service and Haynesfield Speedwash. Marty donated his time to his community by serving as a reserve Sullivan County Sherriff Officer in the 1980s and 1990s. He loved hunting, target shooting, and skeet when he was younger. He loved the Mountains, classical music, his family, and his grandchildren. Marty always had a dry sense of humor, even to the end, and made us laugh into his final hours. Marty was always around to help his family and friends. He was a travel companion, taxi driver, babysitter, electrician, builder, and protector. He loved his Grandchildren; they always made him smile. Thank You to Dr.Hess and Smoky Mountain Hospice for the excellent Care and Service. Extra hugs to Rebecca, Kelly, Katie, Whitney, and Holly; he looked forward to your visit. A celebration to honor Marty's life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at the Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Department.
