Matthias Aguilar

1990 – 2025

Let the memory of Matthias be with us forever.

Matthias Jacob Aguilar or lovingly referred to as “Thias” was born in San Jose, CA to Miguel Aguilar and Julie Choe. He is the baby brother to his siblings, Crissiana, Victor and Joshua. He is also remembered as Uncle Thias to his nephews Jace, Maddox and Lincoln. Thias grew up in Madera, CA where he spent most of his life. As a child, he was sweet, full of energy and fearless. Thias had this distinct smile that stretched ear to ear, which paired perfectly with his squinted eyes and wrinkled nose. He could play any sport from football, volleyball and soccer. He was naturally athletic and hobbies like skateboarding and snowboarding came easy to him. This physical gift led him to San Diego to play football at Palomar College after high school. Later, Thias moved to the Bay Area where his parents were originally from and where most of his extended family resides. It is here that he learned he loved to work with his hands outside which prompted him to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 1245. Thias was one of the hardest workers, always uplifting his co-workers and cracking jokes to bring humor to the long days. When he wasn’t working, he was fishing, spending time with family and friends or being the life of the party. He lived more in his 35 years of life than most. His memory continues to live on in each of us. We can all hope to be more like him. He made everyone feel loved and special. He didn’t just tell you he loved you but he showed you. He showed strangers with random acts of kindness. He showed friends with support and always believing in them. He showed family with his unconditional and fierce love. Everyone knew him as their protector. Even though he is gone, Thias will continue to love and watch over all us from heaven.
