Let the memory of Michael be with us forever.
You found Mike Daly. He’s kind of a remarkable guy. Highlights- He lost both of his parents while he was still a teenage. Despite a tough start- he ended up becoming the Director of The New York State Park Police… without even having a college degree. He was brilliant and service oriented. He was calm in chaos and had command presence that was unquestionable. He was a dedicated worker and gave back more than he got always. He raised two little girls who think the world of him and inspired them in so many ways it’s unthinkable to try to list them. Rosemarie (Rowy) became a police officer just like him and Jennifer (Jenny) started a successful blog after his death that helps caretakers of cancer patients navigate their new normal. He loved his wife so much that when she had a very bad breast cancer scare - he swore to God that he would immediately go to church if God would fix this. God fixed it and he did exactly that, joining the Dutch Reform Church and becoming a godly man until his death many years later. When he had grandkids- he traveled 8 hours every month to see them and visit. Despite the physical distance, he was such an integral part of his young grandkids lives that they talk about him frequently, even though he died when they were under 7. While his death has very little to do with his accomplishments in life- if you read this far- then I ask of you what he would if he could. Please don’t smoke. If you smoke now- quit. Do anything and everything to fight for the life that you should have when you’re older. When my dad started smoking as a teenager it was considered stress relief and healthy. It gave him Lung Cancer and stole him from us. My dad spent the majority of his life trying to quit smoking and was finally successful about 10 years before he got cancer. And may you live your life in such a way that the people you leave behind carry your memory to the next generation.
