Obituary

Michael A. Cremo, internationally hailed as ‘The Forbidden Archeologist,’ has departed from this world on October 14, 2026 at the VA Hospice in North Hills, California, after discontinuing life support. For decades Cremo challenged modern explanations of evolution, exploring Vedic interpretations of consciousness and prevailing theories of human antiquity. Respected as a groundbreaking pioneer in exposing anomalous archeological evidence, Cremo’s meticulous research was venerated as a baseline in alternative scientific investigations. His historic bestseller, Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race, coauthored with Richard L. Thompson, was characterized as “one of the landmark intellectual achievements of the late twentieth century.” This and its abridged version—The Hidden History of the Human Race—have been translated and published in over twenty languages worldwide. Born in 1948 in Schenectady, New York, Cremo embarked upon a lifelong quest for truth and spiritual edification. After receiving a scholarship to study International Affairs at George Washington University during the height of America’s cultural revolution, he began questioning assumptions about traditional values and paradigms. Engaging in extensive lecture tours at universities and scientific institutions and participating in academic and professional conferences worldwide, he has presented papers at the World Archaeological Congress and the European Association of Archaeologists, showcasing the process of knowledge filtration. Featured on Ancient Aliens, Coast to Coast, Thinking Allowed and multiple media, Cremo has offered hundreds of interviews and engaged with listeners around the globe, with fans lauding him as a ‘modern Socrates.’ His most recent project has been to develop exhibits for the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium in West Bengal, India. Michael Cremo’s unsurpassed legacy of books and intellectual conquests will live on and his soul is undoubtedly bound for glorious evolutionary destinations within the spiritual realm.
