Miriam Bureson

Obituary

Miriam S Bureson passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026 at the age of 90 in Flint, Michigan. Born on March 31, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the beloved child of Harry and Sarah Shapiro.  She attended Wayne State University, eventually earning a degree in home economics.  Upon graduation, she was hired by the State of Michigan as a social worker.  During the early 1990's She took early retirement due to health issues.  Shortly afterwards, she traveled to Russia to sponsor a Russian woman and her son to emigrate to the United States.  Miriam loved backgammon, puzzles, gardening and T-bone steak.  She was a brilliant spirited woman who in the face of a difficult childhood was a survivor.  She was loyal to her friends and worked hard to achieve whatever task that lay in front of her. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband Axel Bureson. She was survived by a brother, Sanford Shapiro of San Diego, California.  Best friend Ron Ma had served as caregiver and dedicated son during the last leg of her life journey. She will be sorely missed.
