I never thought in a million years I would be one of the unlucky people who lost somebody so close to them. I always felt so awful for people who lost a parent, and breathed a sigh of relief knowing that would never be my reality. I never thought it would be possible to live without him. Yet here I am, missing him every moment. It’s the little things that hurt the most, like playing monkey on the bed, scaring him every time he came home from work and giving him a big hug, us trying to come up with new (yet not very good) jokes, him getting up in the mornings and knowing how much I dreaded getting out of bed, would just come lay beside me till I wanted to wake up. Those little memories will always be my favorite things about him, and I won’t ever forget them. I lost my dad, my role model, my friend, my playmate, and part of my heart went with him when he left. I love you dad ❤️
Let the memory of Scott be with us forever.
The most amazing human you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Scott was a friend to all, and served, laughed, and loved with a smile. He met Ashley when they were 12-13 years old. Friendship being the strong foundation, they got married in 2007. They have 2 children, both of which were 14 and 11 at the time Scott was diagnosed with cancer. They lived life to the fullest, never taking anything for granted. Always knew they were blessed. Through hard work, and perseverance, Scott was hired by Tempe Fire, his dream job! Captain Scott Leatham, a devoted member of the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department, passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 39, after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. Joining the department in 2013, Captain Leatham served with distinction as a technical rescue technician, SWAT medic, and member of the dive team, embodying dedication and bravery in every role. Promoted to Captain Paramedic in February 2022, he continued to lead with honor and compassion. He was known for his contagious smile and unwavering positivity, always living by his motto, "Attitude is a choice." His optimism inspired all who worked alongside him, even in the toughest times. He is survived by his loving wife and two children, who were his greatest pride and joy. Captain Leatham’s passing marks a profound loss for the Tempe community and the firefighting family, who will forever remember his commitment to others and the selflessness he demonstrated every day. His legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication will be honored with full departmental honors. He will be remembered not only as a hero and leader but also as a devoted family man whose impact will never be forgotten.

Tributes
A life lived in fear is a life never lived. A life lived without love is meaninglessly lived. Remember the days as you lay down to rest. You don't know what’s in store the day after the next. We go out and throw a ball. Remember the sound of his fire-engine call. We thought he would get through this terrible test. But he was taken the day after the next. Always remember the life that he lived. The time we had is the most precious gift. I hope he knows how many he blessed. I’ll hold him close today and the next.
I will love, honor, and miss you til I can be with you again. I will live for you, and for our kids. You were my everything, and this world is less happier with you not in it. Thank you for loving me, being my best friend, and partner in every way. Thank you for making me a mom, and for being the best dad. We will make you proud!
