I love you so much my wonderful husband. I miss your smile, your laugh, your comforting talks, and your hugs. I will try to adhere to your teachings and try to be more positive and understanding of others, trying to see things from their perspective. Rest in peace and love my dearest superhero, until we meet again.
Let the memory of Wade be with us forever.
Wade Masahiko Okinaka, 53 passed away Saturday December 13th, 2025 at Straub Hospital, Honolulu Hawaii. He was born August 8th, 1972 in Honolulu Hawaii to Lenora and the late Warren Okinaka.
Wade was a shining light and influence in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Wade was full of compassion for helping those around him and always thought of how he could make a positive impact in people's lives no matter how small the impact. His perseverance to be a positive mentor and friend to those around him was exemplified by the one question he always asked of himself, "How can I Help?"
Having participated in football and baseball from childhood, Wade developed a passion for fitness, which led him to a career as an Operations Manager for two very prominent multinational gym brands in Hawaii for almost 20 years. During his tenure, he won several Operations Manager of the year awards. Always humble, he always made it known that the award was ALWAYS a team effort, making sure the team got the recognition and not just him.
In his later years, he found a joy in baking (Thanks to the tv show The Great British Bakeoff and the pandemic.) His wife Catherine had dubbed him the Midnight Baker as he would often work on his creations at night while the rest of the house was asleep. Favorites that people enjoyed were his pound cake and cookies. He even tried his hand at Sourdough bread making, which he didn't personally enjoy, but he made it because he knew that others did.
We will miss his sarcastic wit and humor, especially the "Dad" jokes and puns. He was quiet and preferred to try to fade into the background, however when he did speak, it was with such passion and sincerity. He always tried to be the optimist, always trying to find the good in every situation as well as trying to get everyone to look at things through a different perspective.
Wade is survived by his wife of 25 years, Catherine Candy Okinaka (Agliam), Mother Lenora Okinaka, Sisters Loren Okinaka, Lena Arakaki (Fred Calleon) and his nieces and nephews: Cierra Arakaki, Kiana, Chavis, Logan and Khloe Calleon.
A celebration of Wade's life will be held at the Rainbow Bay Pavillion (A-Frame near the Arizona Memorial) on Sunday March 22, 2026 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. The family requests no flowers and casual attire is requested. Please consider wearing something representing his favorite Superhero (Superman) or Anti-Hero (Darth Vader) or his favorite Sports Team (Raiders.) Please come to talk story and share memories. Lunch will be served.

Tributes
Wade, he was my brother, my work husband, my best friend and confidant at UFC GYM. Working side-by-side with you for over 10 years, I grew so much and learned so much with you. We definitely shared blood, sweat and tears. There’s no one else that I could’ve achieved all of this with, other than you. Thank you for making me a better person, for being that listening ear whenever I needed it, for supporting and never competing, and sharing our families together. Rest in heaven, my friend, we’ll be here to look after Candy. Love you bro 🙏🏼❤️
