Wanda Stanfield

Born in Valdosta, Georgia, United States

Let the memory of Wanda be with us forever.

Obituary

Wanda Stanfield (Williams ) was born in 1957 in Valdosta, Georgia, and lived 69 years that left a lasting mark on those who loved her. She passed from this world on August 20, 2026, and her absence is felt deeply by all who were fortunate enough to call her their own.

Above all else, Wanda was fiercely independent- surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains she treasured. She was creative and loved working with her hands, gardening, cooking, baking her mystery bars and working with glass etching. She carried a kind of strength and steady love that shapes lives and lingers long after.

She grew up in Thomasville, GA. A place that has its own particular character, and something of that Georgia Bulldog spirit stayed with her throughout her life. Those who knew her will remember the way she made people feel at home, the warmth she brought into a room, and the bonds she built through simple, everyday acts of love.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Ruth Williams. She is survived by her significant other Al Mitchell, son Chris Fykes (Kathleen), brother Tommy Williams (Diane), sister Glenda Adams (D), nieces Charlotte Young (Jack), Holly Howard (David) and Sarah Cocke (J.P.) She is gone, but the shape of her love remains.

Nextdoor neighbors

I’ve always had fond memories of Wanda as we grew up next door to each other. We went through our adolescence and teenage years sharing many memories together. From playing board games on our front porch to riding horses. After her wonderful parents passed Wanda stayed in her home and got to see her on my visit to my parents. After Wanda moved to South Carolina we visited her and I will always remember the bake spaghetti she made. We will miss her and may she rest in peace in Jesus arms.
