Zora Bean

Zora Julia Bean (born named Zipporah like in the Bible), age 87, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:41pm on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

She was born March 7, 1934, the daughter of the late Lucille Shanaway and James Patterson. She married Byrd Bean, Jr. on November 14, 1953. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 2003 and spent many more wonderful years together until he “flew the coup” in 2008.

She loved to attend church and loved The Lord Jesus and spoke of Him to everyone she would meet, telling them Jesus is the best doctor and did not charge anything. She loved listening to and singing old hymns. Her Bible was always at her side. One of her favorite scriptures was John 3:16.

Zora loved children, so it was only fitting she spent 24 years as a crossing guard for Waterloo School, caring for those that she crossed as if they were her own children.

She loved to watch the Detroit Tigers while playing her favorite game, solitaire, wearing her Tigers attire and rooting them on with all the nicknames she had given the players. Zora loved to play bingo and was always just a few away from winning the coverall. Always a peacekeeper, she loved to make people laugh and had many favorite jokes she would tell.

Zora is preceded in death by her husband, Byrd, her parents, and all her siblings.

She is survived by her children, three girls, the wild ones and three boys, the three stooges, Roberta McPeek, April Barron, Stephanie Bean, Jeff (Darlene) Bean, Scott (Sherry) Bean, and Stephen Bean. Zora is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
