Let the memory of Janice be with us forever.
This is the story of Janice Wonieta Yale Anthony
Was born on June 10, 1948 in Dubois, Pennsylvania to parents Ed and Betty Yale, of Brockport, Pennsylvania. Jobs and money were tight back then, so her parents relocated to Bradford, Pennsylvania for a better opportunities sometime before Jan’s fourth birthday. Jan had two older brothers, Gary (who was known as Butch) and Jim. There were three years difference in each of their ages, Jan, attended elementary, middle school, junior high, and Senior high in Bradford.
Jan majored in business during her four years of high school. She was involved in the science fair the first year, Driver’s Ed and Prom Decorating Committee during the second year, and was in Orchestra, playing the violin during her first, second, and third years of high school Jan graduated in 1996 Jan did not attend to college but worked for Corning glasswork and Spears Inc., in Bradford after school.
In 1967, Jan met Bob Anthony on a Friday night at Nick’s Texas Hots, on Main Street in Bradford and they had an immediate connection and started dating and on March 21, 1968 they were married. Bob was serving in the US Army at that time. During their marriage Bob and Jan had raised three sons. Robert Jr., Matthew, and Steven and one daughter, Carrie.
Jan never flew in and airplane prior to getting married, and her first flight was Bradford, Pennsylvania to Okinawa in 1972, and she was scared. This was a 22 hour flight and she wasn’t traveling alone. Jan was traveling with Bob Jr. ( who was 3 at that time) and Matt (who was 1 at that time) and in addition she was pregnant with her daughter, Carrie, at that time. Jan had several flights afterwards from Virginia to Italy and Italy to Germany and including from Virginia to Colorado and Virginia to Mississippi. Jan always hated flying and while reluctant to do so she bravely faced her fears and got on the plane.
Everyone that knew Jan found her to be an honest open person. If she had disagreed with something, she would state her disapproval, but never in a condescending manner and always explained the logic behind her decision. She was not judgmental and was very respectful of all. She was a remarkable lady and was love beyond measured by her family and friends.
Jan was really a shy person, except on one occasion that was the wedding of Carrie‘s oldest son, Kyle. At the reception, Jan became the fairy godmother and put on a display showing her with and sense of humor as he approached Kyle and Katie, as she was addressing “Cinderellee”. All in attendance at the reception will forever remember “Cinderellee” and no amount of writing to do it justice to the remarkable performance of Jan.
Jan passed away on July 2, 2023, from lung cancer, while on hospice at home. Jan was surrounded by her husband of 55 years, therefore children and their spouses, 15 of her 16 grandchildren and two of her four great grandchildren during her last week of life She even got to see her brother, Jim, via a telephone conference, who could not travel to see her because of his medical issues. Jen had a private family viewing, followed by a public funeral service at Kahletown Community Church and is interned at Kahletown cemetery.
I love this woman gave, and she lives on in each of us who knew her. We are all thankful and better because of her and her love for us. As we love our lives in honor and tribute to her, we will all will rejoice when we are reunited, once again, with our Lord and Janice
