Lived in Knoxville, Tennessee

Let the memory of Jason be with us forever.

Jason “J” Pendleton, 51, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on August 22, 1974, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Jason brought warmth, humor, and a deep love for family to all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Gibbs High School’s Class of 1993, Jason pursued technical training in air conditioning and refrigeration repair at NorthKnox Vocational that same year. His commitment to learning continued as he earned contracting licenses from Pellissippi State Community College in 2011. Jason’s professional journey reflected his dedication and skill—he worked as a Field Service Technician with Pendleton Heat & Air from 2003 to 2023 before continuing his career as a laborer until 2025.

Jason’s passion for movies was legendary among those close to him. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of film quotes and a particular fondness for Adam Sandler comedies, *Smallville*, *The Good Doctor*, *Cobra Kai*, and classic characters like Cartman and Fire Marshal Bill. His love of storytelling extended into the digital age with his recent obsession with TikTok and Pocket FM—especially the character Tobias from *The Duke’s Masked Bride*.

Music was another constant in Jason’s life; he embraced all genres with equal enthusiasm. Whether it was a favorite song or a new discovery, music brought him joy and connection.

Above all else, Jason cherished his family. He spoke daily about his daughter Rayna Burns and found immense pride in her life and accomplishments as well as her becoming a Mother to his first grandson.

Jason is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Chris Pendleton and wife Amanda; Daniel Pendleton; and Marie Slaninka. His nieces and nephews—Katelyn Hedden (and husband Cole), Brooke Pendleton, Kelly Slaninka, and Layla Marie as well as great-nephews Greyson and Isaiah. He also leaves behind many beloved aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Strunk; father George Pendleton; maternal grandmother Ada Smith; paternal grandparents Lily and Ed Pendleton; and aunt Jane Quarrels.

Those who knew Jason will remember him as loving, giving, selfless, encouraging, supportive, funny, smart, and talented—a man whose presence brought light to every room he entered.

May Jason's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter through the movies and music he so loved to share.
