Mr Joel Travis Hurst, 46, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026 in Frankfort, Ky. He was born on November 18, 1979 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Lena Hurst and the late Neal G. Stigall.

Joel had a gift for connection, and he met no strangers. He was the kind of person whose presence shaped the people around him, whose bond with his siblings & those like family ran deep and steady through every season of life. Those relationships built over decades of shared history, laughter, and the ordinary moments that quietly become the most meaningful ones, remains one of the truest measures of who he was.

He spent the earlier parts of his childhood in Middlesboro Ky then he later moved to Frankfort Ky during his adolescence. He attended Frankfort High School and acquired his GED degree. carried himself with purpose.

His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, and his family holds both the grief of losing him and the warmth of everything he gave while he was here. Joel was a brother, and he was good at it. That is no small thing.

To honor Joel's life, a memorial service will take place on Saturday August 22nd at 12pm at First Baptist church. Please send flowers/plants to the church as they will be handling any floral arrangements for the family. There will be a "purple/gold" balloon release ceremony immediately following the service.
