John Nowlin Jr.

1961 – 2024
Lived in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

Let the memory of John be with us forever.

John Wade Nowlin Jr was born on October 15, 1961, in Salina, Kansas to John Nowlin Sr, and Saundra Howerton Nowlin. He left us in the early morning, on November 27, 2024, in his recliner at home, in Broken Arrow, Ok with his loving wife by his side. John loved and enjoyed his family and friends. New and old. He was proud to still have friends from his elementary days. He was a great wrestler, and he was proud to be a part of the Nathan Hale High School 1979 Football 4A State Championship game. He loved gunsmithing, building guns with his father, and traveled the world with his sister Julie, participating in firearm competitions. He worked at BFI, Nowlin Arms, Terracon, and became an entrepreneur, including painting, remodeling, woodwork, and loading ammo. He married his wife in Oahu, Honolulu, HI in 2013, The J.M. Davis Arms & Historical Museum asked him to provide a display for them regarding Nowlin Arms, which he gladly did with honor. He enjoyed anything outdoors. Bon fires, camping, hunting, grilling, fishing, (even though he wasn’t very good at fishing), He wasn’t afraid of anything, except heights, and he overcame that by jumping out of a plane with a parachute a few years ago. He was prone to mostly self-inflicted accidents, He even wrestled a live bear once, trying to win a new car. He loved his Lord and Savior and attended the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. He volunteered at Oktoberfest in Tulsa, he donated his rare blood and plasma to Oklahoma Blood Institute. Which was later re-paid to him recently. John lost his father, John Wade Nowlin Sr and his sister Sherry Lee Nowlin Burma. He leaves behind, his wife, JoVonda Brown Nowlin of Broken Arrow, OK, his mother, Saundra Howerton Nowlin of Bixby, OK, 2 daughters, Jessica Nowlin of San Antonio, TX and Whitney Nowlin Patterson and her husband EJ, of Columbia, SC, 5 grandchildren, Julia Leigh Espinoza, Mason Wade Nowlin, Tessa Michelle Patterson and EJ Patterson III (Tripp) and Eric Martez Patterson. 2 Sisters, Angela Nowlin Reagan and her husband, Jerry, of Okmulgee, OK & Julie Nowlin Roberts and her husband Randy, of Coweta OK. His larger-than-life personality, voice, looks, sarcasm, humor, and quick wit will be missed terribly.
