Raymond Simmons, Sr.

Obituary Raymond Howard Simmons, Sr. was born on September 12th, 1935. He died at age 90 at his home in Camano Island, Washington, on September 26th, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his first wife (Virginia Phillips Simmons-Cowan), his second wife (Constance “Connie” Simmons), and his son (Michael “Greg” Simmons). Additional relatives proceeding him in death include a brother (Robert Simmons), two sisters (Helen Gilmore & Dorothy Bradley), his mother (Coca B. Tibbs-Simmons), and his father (Roy H. Simmons).

Surviving relatives include a brother (James “Jim” Simmons), two sons (Raymond H. Simmons, Jr. & Steve Simmons), and a daughter (Beverly “Bev” Simmons), along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a Cairo High School Alumni of the Class of 1953. During his younger years, he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army. An individual who needed to be ready to be deployed anywhere in the world within 18 hours. He once stated, “I have lived a pretty good life and traveled a large part of the world, but I am still an old, Ritchie County Hillbilly at heart.” May his spirit forever find its way back to the West Virginia Hills.
