Richard Stephan Royce, born in 1948 in Evanston, Illinois, passed from this world in 2026 at the age of 78, leaving behind a family whose lives were shaped by his presence in ways that words can only begin to capture.

Richard made his home in St. Charles, Illinois, where he built a life centered on the people he loved most. He is survived by his wife, Susan, whose partnership with Richard stood at the heart of everything he held dear. His two daughters, Katie and Molly, along with their husbands Brad and John, carry forward the warmth and character he brought to their family. His grandchildren, Kaliana, Bradley, and John John, knew him in that particular way grandchildren do, as someone steady, devoted, and always glad to see them walk through the door.

Richard was a husband and a father, a grandfather and a presence that his family will feel in quiet moments for the rest of their lives. The rituals of an ordinary day, a shared meal, a familiar voice, a laugh across a room, are where he will be remembered most clearly, because that is where he truly lived.
