Rodney 'Rod' Koberstein

1943 – 2025
Lived in Loveland, Colorado

Let the memory of Rodney be with us forever.

Rod Koberstein, a proud Navy Vietnam veteran and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away due to complications stemming from his military service. He was 82 years old. Born on August 27, 1943, Rod dedicated his life to serving his country and his family. He bravely served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and carried the weight of that service with honor and resilience as a disabled veteran. His sacrifice was not only in uniform, but in the lasting impact of his service—Rod truly gave his life for his country. Rod married the love of his life, Sondra Neuburger, on December 28, 1966. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and shared joy. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Hirsch and her husband Eric, and his son Scott Koberstein and his wife Michelle. Rod was a proud grandfather to Matt Johnson, Katie Luebe (spouse Payton), Travis DuVall (spouse Brianna), and Dalton Henderson. Rod was proud of his years as a truck driver, logging nearly a million miles with steady determination, and later devoted 25 years to the City of Loveland. Remembered for his hard work, warm spirit, and sense of humor, he never met a stranger and left a legacy of kindness and commitment. Rod had a deep passion for restoring John Deere tractors, vintage cars, and jukeboxes— breathing new life into pieces of history with his skilled hands and patient heart. His workshop was a place of stories, laughter, and craftsmanship, where he found peace and purpose. Rod’s life was built with quiet strength and steady hands. He found joy in the hum of an engine, the glow of a jukebox, and the open fields where old tractors came back to life. His love showed in the way he served, the way he worked, and the way he showed up for his family. Though his tools are now at rest, his spirit lingers in every memory, every melody, and every moment we hold dear. He may be gone from our sight, but he’ll always be part of the rhythm of our lives. We are so grateful that he is home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We shall meet again.
