Troy West Sr.

On Monday, July 22, 2024 surrounded by his family Troy "Benny" Lee West of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully at home. Troy was born on April 3rd, 1952 in Buckeye, Arizona to the union of the late Ocie West and Versie Lee West. Troy graduated from Buckeye Union High School in 1970 and then went on to receive a bachelor's degree in sociology from Oregon State University. In 1975 he began a career in law enforcement with The Arizona Department of Corrections. He then later joined forces with his father and brothers in a landscape business, Best West Tree Services, that specializes in tree maintenance. In his capacity as business owner, he provided many opportunities to overlooked individuals who depended on him for work. His sister, Hazel, always said with great fervor, "Troy is a natural born social worker." As a brother, father, uncle, nephew and son, Troy shared himself with all who knew him, and having known him, he helped make them better. Troy was predeceased by his father Ocie West, brothers Lorenzo and Travis and his sister Hazel. He is survived by his 96-year-old mother Versie L. West, with whom he shares an April 3rd birthday; his nine brothers and one sister; Ocie, Wisson, Darnell (Donell), Theautries, Vernell, Manuel, Daniel, Paul,Trent and Antoinette. He also leaves behind his partner of many years Donna S. McCuin; children; Troy Jr, April, Latisha, Betsy, Tynisa and three other children; Denise, Ramona and Benjamin, twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Troy will be forever missed by his family and friends.
