Privacy Policy
Last updated June 26, 2026
This explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We try to collect only what we need to run a respectful memorial service.
1. What we collect
Account & contact details — your email, and name if you provide one, when you sign in or subscribe for updates. Memorial content — the names, dates, photos, tributes, stories, and other details you add to a memorial. Payment information — handled by Stripe; we receive confirmation of a purchase and your plan, but we do not store your full card number. Usage data — basic, privacy-respecting analytics such as page views and which features are used, to improve the service.
2. How we use it
To create and display memorials; to operate your account and process payments; to send the notifications you ask for (such as new-tribute or anniversary reminders); to provide support; to keep the service secure; and to understand and improve how it's used.
3. Public memorials are public
If you set a memorial to public, its content can be viewed by anyone and may be indexed by search engines. Choose link-only or (on Premium) password-protected or private if you want to limit who can see it. Please don't add anything to a public memorial that you wouldn't want widely seen.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run Memorygram, under contract and only as needed — for example: Supabase (database and storage), Stripe (payments), SendGrid (email), and Cloudflare (hosting and delivery). When you click a partner or affiliate link (such as flowers, donations, estate planning, or keepsakes), you leave Memorygram and that partner's own privacy practices apply.
5. Email and your choices
We email you only for things you've opted into (sign-in links, memorial updates, anniversary reminders) and essential service messages. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time. We do not sell or rent your email address.
6. Legal basis for processing (EU/EEA & UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information on these bases: to perform our contract with you (operating your account and memorials); our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving the service; your consent (for example, optional notifications), which you may withdraw at any time; and compliance with legal obligations.
7. Your privacy rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights — and request access, correction, or deletion — by emailing info@memorygram.com; we will not discriminate against you for doing so. Residents of California, Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other U.S. states with comparable laws may also opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising by emailing us with the subject "Opt Out." We do not sell your memorial content.
8. International data transfers
We are based in the United States and process and store information there. Where we transfer personal information from the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your choices (like a music or tour preference), and measure basic usage. You can control cookies through your browser.
10. Data retention
Memorials are designed to last and do not expire. We keep account and memorial content for as long as your memorial or account is active, and delete it on request, subject to limited records we are required to keep. Records we must retain for legal, tax, or accounting reasons (such as payment and order records) are kept for up to seven (7) years. If you ask us to delete a memorial or account, we will do so promptly.
11. Security
We use reputable infrastructure and reasonable, industry-standard safeguards such as encryption in transit and secure hosting to protect your information. No online service is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly to any issue.
12. Children
Memorygram is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. A memorial may, of course, honor a child — created and managed by an adult.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
