Missing Our Sister
Our family journey has been unique. Mom and Dad had five children in four and a half years, starting out together in Naperville, Illinois. From there, our family moved to Mountain View, California, then across the ocean to Sindelfingen, West Germany, then back to San Jose, California, and eventually settled in Tucson, Arizona. Growing up through all those moves taught us how to depend on each other, and every change seemed to make our bond stronger. By the time we were adults living near each other in Arizona, that closeness had become one of the most important parts of our lives. Robin was right in the middle of the five of us. The twins, Dannette and Dan, came first, then Robin, then Christine, then me, Bob, the youngest. From early on, Robin had a calm and steady way about her that brought balance to the rest of us. She helped keep us connected and grounded simply by being herself. As adults, that steady presence became one of the things that made us feel whole as a family. Losing Robin has created a void in our quintet that none of us can fill. It is not only the loss of a sister, but the loss of someone whose presence shaped the heart of our family. We miss Robin deeply. Her quiet strength, her gentle humor, and the comfort she brought into any moment will always stay with us. My heart goes out to Rick, and to Robin’s children Cassi, Joe, and Jim, and to her grandchildren who meant everything to her. And especially to our mom, Mary Ann, who now faces a pain no parent should ever have to endure. Robin’s spirit will remain with us in the memories we share, in the love she gave, and in the closeness she helped create in our family.
